And there was a great cry of the people and of their wives against their brethren the Jews.
Nehemiah 5:2For there were that said, We, our sons, and our daughters, are many: therefore we take up corn for them, that we may eat, and live.
Nehemiah 5:3Some also there were that said, We have mortgaged our lands, vineyards, and houses, that we might buy corn, because of the dearth.
Nehemiah 5:4There were also that said, We have borrowed money for the king's tribute, and that upon our lands and vineyards.
Nehemiah 5:5Yet now our flesh is as the flesh of our brethren, our children as their children: and, lo, we bring into bondage our sons and our daughters to be servants, and some of our daughters are brought unto bondage already: neither is it in our power to redeem them; for other men have our lands and vineyards.
Nehemiah 5:6And I was very angry when I heard their cry and these words.
Nehemiah 5:7Then I consulted with myself, and I rebuked the nobles, and the rulers, and said unto them, Ye exact usury, every one of his brother. And I set a great assembly against them.
Nehemiah 5:8And I said unto them, We after our ability have redeemed our brethren the Jews, which were sold unto the heathen; and will ye even sell your brethren? or shall they be sold unto us? Then held they their peace, and found nothing to answer.
Nehemiah 5:9Also I said, It is not good that ye do: ought ye not to walk in the fear of our God because of the reproach of the heathen our enemies?
Nehemiah 5:10I likewise, and my brethren, and my servants, might exact of them money and corn: I pray you, let us leave off this usury.
Nehemiah 5:11Restore, I pray you, to them, even this day, their lands, their vineyards, their oliveyards, and their houses, also the hundredth part of the money, and of the corn, the wine, and the oil, that ye exact of them.
Nehemiah 5:12Then said they, We will restore them, and will require nothing of them; so will we do as thou sayest. Then I called the priests, and took an oath of them, that they should do according to this promise.
Nehemiah 5:13Also I shook my lap, and said, So God shake out every man from his house, and from his labour, that performeth not this promise, even thus be he shaken out, and emptied. And all the congregation said, Amen, and praised the LORD. And the people did according to this promise.
Job 21:7Wherefore do the wicked live, become old, yea, are mighty in power?
Job 21:8Their seed is established in their sight with them, and their offspring before their eyes.
Job 21:9Their houses are safe from fear, neither is the rod of God upon them.
Job 21:10Their bull gendereth, and faileth not; their cow calveth, and casteth not her calf.
Job 21:11They send forth their little ones like a flock, and their children dance.
Job 21:12They take the timbrel and harp, and rejoice at the sound of the organ.
Job 21:13They spend their days in wealth, and in a moment go down to the grave.
Job 21:14Therefore they say unto God, Depart from us; for we desire not the knowledge of thy ways.
Job 21:15What is the Almighty, that we should serve him? and what profit should we have, if we pray unto him?
Job 27:13This is the portion of a wicked man with God, and the heritage of oppressors, which they shall receive of the Almighty.
Job 27:14If his children be multiplied, it is for the sword: and his offspring shall not be satisfied with bread.
Job 27:15Those that remain of him shall be buried in death: and his widows shall not weep.
Job 27:16Though he heap up silver as the dust, and prepare raiment as the clay;
Job 27:17He may prepare it, but the just shall put it on, and the innocent shall divide the silver.
Job 27:18He buildeth his house as a moth, and as a booth that the keeper maketh.
Job 27:19The rich man shall lie down, but he shall not be gathered: he openeth his eyes, and he is not.
Job 27:20Terrors take hold on him as waters, a tempest stealeth him away in the night.
Job 27:21The east wind carrieth him away, and he departeth: and as a storm hurleth him out of his place.
Job 27:22For God shall cast upon him, and not spare: he would fain flee out of his hand.
Job 27:23Men shall clap their hands at him, and shall hiss him out of his place.
Job 31:24If I have made gold my hope, or have said to the fine gold, Thou art my confidence;
Job 31:25If I rejoiced because my wealth was great, and because mine hand had gotten much;
Job 31:28This also were an iniquity to be punished by the judge: for I should have denied the God that is above.
Psalms 49:16Be not thou afraid when one is made rich, when the glory of his house is increased;
Psalms 49:17For when he dieth he shall carry nothing away: his glory shall not descend after him.
Psalms 52:1(To the chief Musician, Maschil, A Psalm of David, when Doeg the Edomite came and told Saul, and said unto him, David is come to the house of Ahimelech.) Why boastest thou thyself in mischief, O mighty man? the goodness of God endureth continually.
Psalms 52:2Thy tongue deviseth mischiefs; like a sharp razor, working deceitfully.
Psalms 52:3Thou lovest evil more than good; and lying rather than to speak righteousness. Selah.
Psalms 52:4Thou lovest all devouring words, O thou deceitful tongue.
Psalms 52:5God shall likewise destroy thee for ever, he shall take thee away, and pluck thee out of thy dwelling place, and root thee out of the land of the living. Selah.
Psalms 52:6The righteous also shall see, and fear, and shall laugh at him:
Psalms 52:7Lo, this is the man that made not God his strength; but trusted in the abundance of his riches, and strengthened himself in his wickedness.
Psalms 73:3For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
Psalms 73:4For there are no bands in their death: but their strength is firm.
Psalms 73:5They are not in trouble as other men; neither are they plagued like other men.
Psalms 73:6Therefore pride compasseth them about as a chain; violence covereth them as a garment.
Psalms 73:7Their eyes stand out with fatness: they have more than heart could wish.
Psalms 73:8They are corrupt, and speak wickedly concerning oppression: they speak loftily.
Psalms 73:9They set their mouth against the heavens, and their tongue walketh through the earth.
Psalms 73:10Therefore his people return hither: and waters of a full cup are wrung out to them.
Psalms 73:11And they say, How doth God know? and is there knowledge in the most High?
Psalms 73:12Behold, these are the ungodly, who prosper in the world; they increase in riches.
Psalms 73:13Verily I have cleansed my heart in vain, and washed my hands in innocency.
Psalms 73:14For all the day long have I been plagued, and chastened every morning.
Psalms 73:15If I say, I will speak thus; behold, I should offend against the generation of thy children.

Ecclesiastes 5:13There is a sore evil which I have seen under the sun, namely, riches kept for the owners thereof to their hurt.

Jeremiah 5:9Shall I not visit for these things? saith the LORD: and shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?
Jeremiah 5:27As a cage is full of birds, so are their houses full of deceit: therefore they are become great, and waxen rich.
Jeremiah 5:28They are waxen fat, they shine: yea, they overpass the deeds of the wicked: they judge not the cause, the cause of the fatherless, yet they prosper; and the right of the needy do they not judge.
Jeremiah 5:29Shall I not visit for these things? saith the LORD: shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?
Jeremiah 9:23Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches:
Jeremiah 17:11As the partridge sitteth on eggs, and hatcheth them not; so he that getteth riches, and not by right, shall leave them in the midst of his days, and at his end shall be a fool.

Jeremiah 22:19He shall be buried with the burial of an ass, drawn and cast forth beyond the gates of Jerusalem.
Ezekiel 7:19They shall cast their silver in the streets, and their gold shall be removed: their silver and their gold shall not be able to deliver them in the day of the wrath of the LORD: they shall not satisfy their souls, neither fill their bowels: because it is the stumblingblock of their iniquity.

Micah 6:12For the rich men thereof are full of violence, and the inhabitants thereof have spoken lies, and their tongue is deceitful in their mouth.
Zephaniah 1:18Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the day of the LORD'S wrath; but the whole land shall be devoured by the fire of his jealousy: for he shall make even a speedy riddance of all them that dwell in the land.

Mark 10:23And Jesus looked round about, and saith unto his disciples, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!
Mark 10:24And the disciples were astonished at his words. But Jesus answereth again, and saith unto them, Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God!
Mark 10:25It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
Mark 10:26And they were astonished out of measure, saying among themselves, Who then can be saved?
Mark 10:27And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.
Luke 6:24But woe unto you that are rich! for ye have received your consolation.
Luke 6:25Woe unto you that are full! for ye shall hunger. Woe unto you that laugh now! for ye shall mourn and weep.

Luke 16:13No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
Luke 16:14And the Pharisees also, who were covetous, heard all these things: and they derided him.
Luke 16:19There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day:
Luke 16:20And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores,
Luke 16:21And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.
Luke 16:22And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;
Luke 16:23And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
Luke 16:24And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.
Luke 16:25But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.
Luke 16:26And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.
Luke 18:22Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.
Luke 18:23And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: for he was very rich.
Luke 18:24And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!
Luke 18:25For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
Luke 18:26And they that heard it said, Who then can be saved?
1 Timothy 6:17Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;
1 Timothy 6:18That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate;
1 Timothy 6:19Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.
James 1:9Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted:
James 1:10But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away.
James 1:11For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withereth the grass, and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways.
James 5:1Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you.
James 5:2Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten.
James 5:3Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days.
