And the second lot came forth to Simeon, even for the tribe of the children of Simeon according to their families: and their inheritance was within the inheritance of the children of Judah.
Joshua 19:2And they had in their inheritance Beersheba, or Sheba, and Moladah,
Joshua 19:3And Hazarshual, and Balah, and Azem,
Joshua 19:4And Eltolad, and Bethul, and Hormah,
Joshua 19:5And Ziklag, and Bethmarcaboth, and Hazarsusah,
Joshua 19:6And Bethlebaoth, and Sharuhen; thirteen cities and their villages:
Joshua 19:7Ain, Remmon, and Ether, and Ashan; four cities and their villages:
Joshua 19:8And all the villages that were round about these cities to Baalathbeer, Ramath of the south. This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Simeon according to their families.
Joshua 19:9Out of the portion of the children of Judah was the inheritance of the children of Simeon: for the part of the children of Judah was too much for them: therefore the children of Simeon had their inheritance within the inheritance of them.
Judges 1:3And Judah said unto Simeon his brother, Come up with me into my lot, that we may fight against the Canaanites; and I likewise will go with thee into thy lot. So Simeon went with him.
Judges 1:4And Judah went up; and the LORD delivered the Canaanites and the Perizzites into their hand: and they slew of them in Bezek ten thousand men.
Judges 1:5And they found Adonibezek in Bezek: and they fought against him, and they slew the Canaanites and the Perizzites.
Judges 1:6But Adonibezek fled; and they pursued after him, and caught him, and cut off his thumbs and his great toes.
Judges 1:7And Adonibezek said, Threescore and ten kings, having their thumbs and their great toes cut off, gathered their meat under my table: as I have done, so God hath requited me. And they brought him to Jerusalem, and there he died.
Judges 1:8Now the children of Judah had fought against Jerusalem, and had taken it, and smitten it with the edge of the sword, and set the city on fire.
Judges 1:9And afterward the children of Judah went down to fight against the Canaanites, that dwelt in the mountain, and in the south, and in the valley.
Judges 1:10And Judah went against the Canaanites that dwelt in Hebron: (now the name of Hebron before was Kirjatharba:) and they slew Sheshai, and Ahiman, and Talmai.
Judges 1:11And from thence he went against the inhabitants of Debir: and the name of Debir before was Kirjathsepher:
Judges 1:12And Caleb said, He that smiteth Kirjathsepher, and taketh it, to him will I give Achsah my daughter to wife.
Judges 1:13And Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb's younger brother, took it: and he gave him Achsah his daughter to wife.
Judges 1:14And it came to pass, when she came to him, that she moved him to ask of her father a field: and she lighted from off her ass; and Caleb said unto her, What wilt thou?
Judges 1:15And she said unto him, Give me a blessing: for thou hast given me a south land; give me also springs of water. And Caleb gave her the upper springs and the nether springs.
Judges 1:16And the children of the Kenite, Moses' father in law, went up out of the city of palm trees with the children of Judah into the wilderness of Judah, which lieth in the south of Arad; and they went and dwelt among the people.
Judges 1:17And Judah went with Simeon his brother, and they slew the Canaanites that inhabited Zephath, and utterly destroyed it. And the name of the city was called Hormah.
1 Chronicles 4:24The sons of Simeon were, Nemuel, and Jamin, Jarib, Zerah, and Shaul:
1 Chronicles 4:25Shallum his son, Mibsam his son, Mishma his son.
1 Chronicles 4:26And the sons of Mishma; Hamuel his son, Zacchur his son, Shimei his son.
1 Chronicles 4:27And Shimei had sixteen sons and six daughters; but his brethren had not many children, neither did all their family multiply, like to the children of Judah.
1 Chronicles 4:28And they dwelt at Beersheba, and Moladah, and Hazarshual,
1 Chronicles 4:29And at Bilhah, and at Ezem, and at Tolad,
1 Chronicles 4:30And at Bethuel, and at Hormah, and at Ziklag,
1 Chronicles 4:31And at Bethmarcaboth, and Hazarsusim, and at Bethbirei, and at Shaaraim. These were their cities unto the reign of David.
1 Chronicles 4:32And their villages were, Etam, and Ain, Rimmon, and Tochen, and Ashan, five cities:
1 Chronicles 4:33And all their villages that were round about the same cities, unto Baal. These were their habitations, and their genealogy.
1 Chronicles 4:34And Meshobab, and Jamlech, and Joshah the son of Amaziah,
1 Chronicles 4:35And Joel, and Jehu the son of Josibiah, the son of Seraiah, the son of Asiel,
1 Chronicles 4:36And Elioenai, and Jaakobah, and Jeshohaiah, and Asaiah, and Adiel, and Jesimiel, and Benaiah,
1 Chronicles 4:37And Ziza the son of Shiphi, the son of Allon, the son of Jedaiah, the son of Shimri, the son of Shemaiah;
1 Chronicles 4:38These mentioned by their names were princes in their families: and the house of their fathers increased greatly.
1 Chronicles 4:39And they went to the entrance of Gedor, even unto the east side of the valley, to seek pasture for their flocks.
1 Chronicles 4:40And they found fat pasture and good, and the land was wide, and quiet, and peaceable; for they of Ham had dwelt there of old.
1 Chronicles 4:41And these written by name came in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, and smote their tents, and the habitations that were found there, and destroyed them utterly unto this day, and dwelt in their rooms: because there was pasture there for their flocks.
1 Chronicles 4:42And some of them, even of the sons of Simeon, five hundred men, went to mount Seir, having for their captains Pelatiah, and Neariah, and Rephaiah, and Uzziel, the sons of Ishi.
1 Chronicles 4:43And they smote the rest of the Amalekites that were escaped, and dwelt there unto this day.
